Schilens Remains Out!!
The “procedure” Chaz Schilens underwent following the season on his left foot was significant enough that the wide receiver will probably be out until training camp.
Schilens, as he did during the mandatory minicamp, was a spectator as his teammates went through warmups, drills and team sessions.
Schilens had surgery at the time of the injury and disclosed there was a follow-up procedure at the mandatory minicamp.
“I think we’ll take our time with that, just to be smart,” Cable said. “I don’t want to do anything to set it back. If he’s there when we go to camp _ which he will be _ I’ll be happy with that.”

Raider Al Davis
There I was on Labor Day weekend, 2002, attending a second birthday party for our friends’ son. Helping with the camera work, enjoying the September weather and mingling with complete strangers. Overall, it was about as exciting as watching a pro bowler’s tournament on television.

Raider Math
In today’s tumultuous world, Raider fans have difficulty doing the math. We don’t know how many stitches President Obama got for his understandably ridiculous attempt to play young—mainly because we can’t count that high. We don’t know how many people were killed in North Korea’s heinous shelling of South Korea’s Yeonpyeong Island—but that’s only because we are too busy shopping for Raider sportswear online and, well, we can’t be bothered. |

The Hard Raider Yards
The Wilson NFL football lays on the grass like some treasured momento named “Fluffy.” The symmetrical tips point north and south, cradled gently on the ground as if waiting for some nubile bodies to have a picnic while Ravel’s “Bolero” plays in the background.

Raiders Count the Ways
How many ways did the inchoate Oakland Raiders beat the Denver Broncos on October 24, 2010? Let Elizabeth Barrett Browning count the ways. Browning was a poet and would have been a Raider fan, but she lived before 1963--and we all know Oakland did not have a franchise before then.
